“The 19-year-old East Londoner is churning out butter-smooth tunes.” - I-D“A real jewel” – Clash
“Jvck James wears his heart on his sleeve” – MTV
Today sees upcoming talent Jvck James release his new single ‘Fears’. The slick R&B offering, produced by Loxe (Nao), is the follow up to previous single ‘On My Way’ and is yet another sign of Jvck’s undeniable promise. The psychedelia tinged accompanying visuals, directed by Elliot Simpson, find Jvck wandering the empty streets of East London in the dead of night.
Discussing the track’s origins, Jvck remarks “I worked with super-talented producer Loxe which was super easy. The track talks about running from your fears rather than confronting the actual problems. I wanted to use my upper register to complement the funky b-line; channelling my inner MJ...” ‘Fears’ is the second in a run of highly anticipated tracks coming from Jvck across the summer. The last release, ‘On My Way’, picked up early support from the likes of i-D, Hunger, Clash and MTV alongside plays from Mistajam, DJ Target & Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1/1Xtra and ‘Fears’ is surely set to produce more fans of Jvck’s distinctive blend of UK R&B and soul.
Jvck is set to debut his impressive live show in late July at Dalston’s Servant Jazz Quarters, with tickets for the show having sold out within days of going on sale. In addition, Jvck will be joining rising star Mahalia on her nationwide UK tour later in the year in October including a date at Brixton Electric. Full details of all Jvck’s upcoming live dates can be found below.
Nineteen-year-old ELAM graduate (East London Academy of Music) Jvck James has been quietly working away since his early teens; taking reference from his Jamaican heritage and honing the influences of D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill & Frank Ocean to create a uniquely British take on a sound that has been US dominated for so long.
